Letí havran, letí...
Slová: Svetozár Hurban Vajanský
Letí havran, letí, radostne si kráka,
nesie krm pre deti, pre rodinku svoju,
čo tam v hniezde čaká.
Beží vlk a vyje, mäsa kus má v pysku
pre vĺčatá svoje, čo hladujú, mrznú
v dlhom zimovisku.
Lež ta v lono hory nejde nik, neletí,
čože to za tvory, v biede bez pomoci?
To slovenské deti, to slovenské deti.

The Raven Flies, He Flies...
Words: Svetozár Hurban Vajanský
The raven flies, he flies, and croaks with merry zest,
he brings food for his children, his family
who'er waiting in the nest.
The howling wolf is running, meat is in his snout
for his wolfcubs who go hungry
before the long cold winter's out.
But see that mountain valley, where no on flies or goes
What are those creatures there, in need and without aid?
Slovak children those, Slovak children those.
